Worthing Neighbourhood Care Alliance

Our Extranet Question Mark

My Neighbourhood

Loneliness has been proven to reduce life expectancy and increase risk of developing conditions such as Alzheimer's Photo credit: Age Concern EnglandAt the heart of the Worthing Neighbourhood Care Alliance is our desire to get Worthing active and involved.

Not just involved in the great work that local voluntary groups do for older people, but also working together at the neighbourhood level to create communities where older people know they have a support network of neighbours they can call on. We’re determined that loneliness and isolation should have no place in Worthing.

Community Engagement Workers are instrumental to us making headway towards this vision.

A question of support

If your answers to those questions tend towards ‘not very’, ‘perhaps not’ and ‘no’, don’t feel too bad about it. Many different social and economic factors stack up against and undermine the possibilities for both formal volunteering and close-knit supportive neighbourhoods.

But there is a great opportunity right now to do something positive. Our Community Engagement Workers are working flat out in your neighbourhood during the next year.

If you want to make your street a better place to live, where neighbours look out for each other and offer ‘that little bit of extra help’ to more vulnerable neighbours, please get in touch with them. If you know of a ‘missing service’ and would like help and advice to get a club or social event off the ground, please get in touch with them. Or if you could help out an older neighbour with their shopping, give them a lift to the GP, or invite them round for coffee… please get in touch with our Community Engagement Workers!
